I'm a Partner at Convergent Research, where I help scientists build Focused Research Organizations: startup-speed, nonprofit-shaped teams that go after problems too big for an academic lab and too early for a company. I'm always looking for people to build, write, and make weird things with.
What I'm looking for
Scientists with FRO-shaped ideas. A tool, dataset, or capability that would unlock a whole field, needs a focused team and a few years, and doesn't fit a grant or a pitch deck. I want to hear about it.
Writing collaborators. Contents May Shift is about science, self, and the systems we build to understand both. I'm into co-written pieces, interviews, and arguments that need a sparring partner.
Music and party people. I make music, study the history of deep house, and throw weird parties. If you're building a strange room for one night, count me in.
Who I am
Grew up in rural Alabama, fully offline. Dirt roads, guns, god and glory.
Bartended, studied chemistry, and took apart car engines in Eastern Europe. First-gen college grad.
Did cancer research at MD Anderson: liquid biopsy and T-cell immunotherapy.
Was the first biologist at Opentrons, the lab robotics company now helping train the foundation models.
Was a partner at Lowercarbon Capital: $3 billion of climate investing, across every supply chain on earth.
Now at Convergent Research, working with FROs across astrophysics, neuroscience, and physiology.
